Matendo ya Mitume 26:9-15

[9]Kweli, mimi mwenyewe naliona ndani ya nafsi yangu kwamba yanipasa kutenda mambo mengi yaliyopingamana na jina lake Yesu Mnazareti;

[10]nami nikayafanya hayo Yerusalemu; niliwafunga wengi miongoni mwa watakatifu ndani ya magereza, nikiisha kupewa amri na wakuu wa makuhani; na walipouawa nalitoa idhini yangu.

[11]Na mara nyingi katika masinagogi yote naliwaadhibu, nikawashurutisha kukufuru; nikawaonea hasira kama mwenye wazimu, nikawaudhi hata katika miji ya ugenini.

[12]Basi katika kazi hiyo nilipokuwa nikienda Dameski, mwenye mamlaka na maagizo ya wakuu wa makuhani;

[13]Ee Mfalme, ndipo wakati wa adhuhuri njiani naliona nuru inatoka mbinguni ipitayo mwangaza wa jua, ikinimulikia mimi, na wale waliofuatana nami pande zote.

[14]Tukaanguka nchi sote, nikasikia sauti ikisema nami kwa lugha ya kiebrania, Sauli! Sauli! Mbona waniudhi? Ni vigumu kwako kuupiga mateke mchokoo.

[15]Nami nikasema, Wewe u nani, Bwana? Bwana akaniambia, Mimi ni Yesu, ambaye wewe unaniudhi.

TRANSLATION:

I myself was convinced that I ought to do many things in opposing the name of ^c Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰#^d And I did so in Jerusalem. I not only locked up many of the saints in prison after receiving authority ^e from the chief priests, but ^f when they were put to death I cast my vote against them. ¹¹#And ^g I punished them often in all the synagogues and tried to make them ^h blaspheme, and ⁱ in raging fury against them I ^j persecuted them even to foreign cities.

¹²#“In this connection ^k I journeyed to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. ¹³#At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, that shone around me and those who journeyed with me. ¹⁴#And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me ^l in the Hebrew language, ¹ ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ ¹⁵#And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord.
